Volleyball Coach (School) – Position Description

Surrey Public School is seeking a motivated and dependable Volleyball Coach to lead our student-athletes in developing strong fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This position is responsible for planning and conducting practices, coaching during competitions, and supporting the overall growth and success of the volleyball program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and lead daily practices and game preparation

  • Teach volleyball skills, strategy, and teamwork

  • Promote positive sportsmanship and student leadership

  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and travel

  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff

  • Maintain compliance with school policies and activity guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Prior coaching and/or volleyball experience preferred

  • Ability to work well with students and promote a positive team culture

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organization skills

  • Must meet school district coaching requirements (background check, certifications, etc.)

This is a seasonal position with practices and competitions scheduled before and/or after school.

Essential Functions
· Develop, implement, and regularly update IEPs for assigned students in
compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
· Provide direct instruction in academic, behavioral, and life skills, tailored to each
student’s individual needs and learning style.
· Modify general education curriculum and assessments as needed to accommodate
student learning needs.
· Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, families, and service
providers to support students’ educational goals.
· Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and maintain accurate and up-to-date
records of assessments, observations, and documentation.
· Employ a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to reach students
with diverse learning needs.
· Foster a safe, positive, and respectful classroom environment that supports
learning and student self-advocacy.
· Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, parent conferences, and staff
development activities.
· Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical requirements related to special
education services.
· Schedule and supervise the paraprofessional educator team.

Essential Qualifications and Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
· Valid ND State Teaching License with Special Education
· Knowledge of IDEA, ADA, Section 504, and other relevant legislation.
· Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to develop trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
· Experience working with students across multiple disability categories and grade
levels.
