Football Coach (School) – Position Description
Surrey Public School is seeking a motivated and dependable football Coach to lead our student-athletes in developing strong fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This position is responsible for planning and conducting practices, coaching during competitions, and supporting the overall growth and success of the football program.
Key Responsibilities:
Organize and lead daily practices and game preparation
Teach football skills, strategy, and teamwork
Promote positive sportsmanship and student leadership
Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and travel
Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff
Maintain compliance with school policies and activity guidelines
Qualifications:
Prior coaching and/or football experience preferred
Ability to work well with students and promote a positive team culture
Strong leadership, communication, and organization skills
Must meet school district coaching requirements (background check, certifications, etc.)
This is a seasonal position with practices and competitions scheduled before and/or after school.

beginning the 2026-2027 School Year
Essential Functions
1. Plan and Deliver Instruction
• Design lessons aligned with curriculum standards
• Teach math concepts (e.g., ratios, equations, geometry) in clear, engaging ways
• Use examples, models, and guided practice
2. Assess Student Learning
• Create and grade quizzes, tests, and assignments
• Use informal checks (questions, exit tickets) during lessons
• Analyze results to adjust teaching
3. Classroom Management
• Maintain a structured, respectful learning environment
• Set expectations and manage behavior effectively
• Foster student engagement and participation
4. Student Support & Communication
• Support diverse learners (IEPs, ELL students, etc.)
• Communicate with parents/guardians
• Collaborate with counselors, SPED staff, and colleagues
5. Professional Responsibilities
• Attend meetings, professional development, and trainings
• Stay current with teaching strategies and literature
• Follow school policies and documentation requirements
Essential Qualifications and Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education
· Valid ND State Teaching License with Mathematics Education
· Knowledge of IDEA, ADA, Section 504, and other relevant legislation.
· Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to develop trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
